A comfort zone is a zone where nothing works.
In reality, comfort zones are really not about comfort but fear.
In your comfort zone, there’s a sense of familiarity, security, and certainty.
When you decide to remain in your comfort zone you are actually sabotaging yourself, refusing to do more than you should.
A comfort zone can manifest in various forms.
One of them is procrastination which is actually a killer of time.
Perfection is also another form of a comfort zone, always waiting till conditions are as we please before taking action.
Rationalizing is another form that almost concerns all of us.
Most people rationalize with religion, claiming to be content with the way they are when they can actually be more successful if they take on their fear of failure and self-doubt.
Things we can do to get out of our comfort zone includes:
Become aware of what’s outside our comfort zone.
Becoming clear of what you are aiming for.
Joining a community of people who motivate and push you.
Find accountability, someone who will always remind you of what you set out to achieve.
Override the voice of fear and see fear as a teacher.
Accept and get comfortable with discomfort.
Take baby steps, cut down on perfection.
Switch up your routine and try something outside the box.
Avoid procrastination.
Always remember that outside your comfort zone lies optimal performance and life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. It means you don’t let fear stop you.
