Jason said great, let’s keep the ball rolling and give them a taste of their own medicine. The masterminds of Adrian’s shooting were left in the dark.

They wondered why they couldn’t keep tabs on Adrian and his friends and even his mum. They tapped into the secret video feeds of their apartments and didn’t find them there.

One of them said they are simply badly shaken up after Adrian’s shooting. I’m sure they’ll be back online soon and will go home by tomorrow, they must return to their apartments. They can’t live on the street.

Jason’s friend had the shooters in a secure location. They were knocked off after he sedated them.

He waited for them to wake up before telling them welcome to my nightmare. They said we’ll never tell you anything.

Russell said that remains to be seen. When I’m done with you, you’ll be able to tell if you’ll tell me anything or not.

He opened one of the jars housing some poisonous spiders and set them free. He opened another housing some snakes and scorpions and reptiles and set them free and switched off the light and left.

He switched on the lights to reveal a couple of poisonous snakes and spiders as well as scorpions in some jars and said these will be your Companions.

The shooters said to themselves is that what we think it is? Russell said oh they are exactly what you think they are. Poisonous wonderful companions.

I’m going to ask you to tell me why you shot Adrian and who is the mastermind. I’ll ask you just once because I’ve no time to waste.

After that I’ll release your companions to keep you company if you don’t tell me what I need to know and come back later after you’ve died a slow painful death.

Come to think about it you were going to die anyway because there’s no way the masterminds of this plot will spare your lives as you failed to deliver.

They’ll feel you know too much and you will talk so they’ll want you dead tonight before you talk. I moved you here while they think that you are still in police custody.

Better still I may just put out a tweet saying I have both of you and ready to sell you two to the highest bidder who will definitely be one of the masterminds.

The choice is yours, let me lay it on the line for you. I sell you to the highest bidder or I leave you to these wonderful poisonous companions.

You make it easy for yourselves and tell me why you shot Adrian and who is the mastermind. They both spat at him and he said very well then, you’ve made your choice.

As he left, he heard them screaming you can’t leave us here at least switch on the light. He ignored them and walked away as the screaming intensified.

He returned a few minutes later and switched on the lights and asked are you ready to cooperate now?

They were both screaming, please get us out of here, we’ll tell you what you want to know. Please we do want to die, our family still needs us, please don’t let us die.

Russell hissed and said you don’t want to die but you were paid to kill someone else. Better start talking or else I’ll switch off this light. Russell screamed who are the masterminds?

They both chorused honestly, we’ve no idea, we just know they are past and present politicians.

We have never met them; we were just contacted by someone who wanted us to take out Adrian that’s all.

Russell screamed does this person have a name? They said we never met him, he contacted us by email and by phone. He goes by the code name Honey Badger.

Russell said does he have a phone number? They said he contacts us by burner phones. He doesn’t have a regular line.

Russell said great, why was Adrian targeted? They said it’s because of the bill his father is sponsoring in the Senate.

Russell said bill? They said the bill is about corruption and immunity of past politicians.

Russell said really? Why is it a problem?

They said if it’s passed, it’ll affect a lot of past and present politicians so they don’t want it to see the light of day that’s all we know.

Russell said that’s not good enough. You’ve not given me anything tangible. You’ve not pointed me in any direction.

He was about to switch off the light when one of them said how about if I tell you there will be a meeting tonight at a secure location.

Russel held on and said where is this meeting? One of them said it’s at an abandoned warehouse in the outskirts of town.

Russell said there are lots of abandoned warehouses so what’s the exact address?

One of them said it’s an abandoned warehouse close to the major market in the city. Russell said the one at 300 street? They echoed yes.

Russell said if I go there and it’s a set-up, I’ll come back here and put a bullet in your head.

If you are not already dead at the hands of these companions. Both of them said we are telling the truth.

They were supposed to have a meeting where we would have met the masterminds if we succeeded.

We are sure they’ll meet today especially as we didn’t succeed to regroup and decide on the next step.

They really want Mr. Anderson eliminated as their penultimate plan. The shooting of that inmate was just a distraction.

Russell said great I’ll give you the benefit of doubt and put your companions back in their cage. I’ll release them if I find out you were lying. They both echoed we are not.

If you must go there, be heavily guarded and armed.

Russell put on thick hand gloves and a thick rubber boot and put back the reptiles in their cage. He got the shooters some water and a drink.

He fed it to them and left saying you’ll be entitled to a meal if the information you provided is true and useful.

He turned around and said I know what you are thinking that people will find you but all tracking devices are deactivated in this space.

We made sure of that, so if you had any on you and you think someone will find you just discard that thought.

Besides I put something in your drink that will knock you off right about now and he looked at his wrist watch as they began to fall asleep.

He said that’s right as he switched off the light and left.

He got into his car and called Jason and said I got something. Jason said what is it? He said there’s a meeting at an abandoned warehouse at 300 street tonight.

Jason said you’ve got to be kidding me. Russell said no I’m not. Jason said how did they break so easily?

Russell said don’t ask but it got the job done so what’s the plan?

Jason said we can’t arrest them, so the plan is to listen in and get video footage of the meeting and probably their faces. So, we can put a face to these people.

Russell said so you are suggesting we go in ahead of time and plant recording devices?

Jason said no, that warehouse is pretty large and we can’t tell where the meeting will be held.

I suggest we go in ahead of time and wait so we can listen in and record as they come in. Then we wait for them to leave before leaving too.

Russell said works for me, so who is going to the warehouse? Jason said I’m thinking of both of us.

Russell said no way. I’ll rather we send a skilled team.

I get that you’ve got military training but this is way too advanced for you because you are a little rusty.

No insult intended; I can’t let you put yourself in harm’s way like that. I’ll take a team along with me and we’ll get the job done.

Jason said are you sure? Russell said I’m sure, boss. Jason said great, do you have all you need? He said yes, the team does it’s their specialty.

Jason said great let me know if there’s anything you need. Thank you for doing this.

Russell said I’ll communicate with you once we set up and once it’s done. Wish me luck.

Jason said you do need it. Good luck Russell and see you at the other side.

Anderson informed Jason that Greg’s family had been secured. Jason heaved a sigh of relief and said thank goodness.

I’ll need life video footage to show Greg so he can speak to his family in real time. So, he can tell us about the hideout of Kelvin’s family.

Anderson said a video call can solve all that. Once it’s time let me know.

Anderson stepped out of his car and the press accosted him asking him questions about his son. He said I’ve nothing to say to you.

I can’t understand why anyone would want to shoot my son. You may as well ask the shooters their motive behind shooting my son.

That’s all I have to say about this matter as he walked away and they ran after him.

As he spoke the masterminds of the plot watched from their various homes saying you are next.

Your days are numbered. With you we will make sure we don’t miss like we missed with your son.

Ryan and Nancy as well as her brothers left for his parents’ home and they were so relieved to see him.

They stopped by a store to get basic needs to survive the night.

Dr. Gabriel arrived at the Anderson residence to see Adrian and Liam.

Jason showed Greg proof that his family was secured. He spoke to his family and told them they were safe.

He said I promised to always protect you and I’m keeping that promise. He said the people who have you will always protect you.

I don’t know what is going to become of me so take care in case we never speak again as his family sobbed along with him.

He ended the video call and turned to Jason and said I’ll keep my promise.
