Jason got hold of him and said calm down, you don’t know if he is dead. Anderson started to call Adrian’s security, one of them answered and Anderson said where is Adrian?

Please tell me my son has not been shot. One of Adrian’s security said I’ll get back to you sir but your son is okay.

Anderson said I’d like to speak to him. The security said not now sir, everywhere is so rowdy, just know we got him to safety.

I’m telling you the truth, I’ve no reason to lie to you when you’ll still find out the truth. I need to go sir, your son will call you when in the clear and he hung up.

Jason took Greg to his office and Anderson followed him. He switched on the TV and news stations were reporting the shooting in an event hosted by Adrian.

Soon it spread like wildfire as there was no clear report of casualties. Soon Mrs. Anderson called her husband saying she couldn’t reach Adrian. Stacey, Ryan and Nancy all called.

She said fine how? Where is my son? Where is my Adrian? He is not answering his phone, where is my Adrian and she bursts out crying.

Adrian’s other siblings called as well. Adrian’s security did not want him to speak to anyone on his phone in case it was being monitored so they switched it off.

As Adrian was told by his father that he was about to be shot one of his bodyguards heard it and immediately spotted the shooter.

Then he screamed get down as he dived with him to the floor while others opened fire. The shooter was shot in the arm and in the knee by Adrian’s security. They whisked Adrian away as there was pandemonium everywhere.

Some of Adrian’s security apprehended the shooter who was writhing in pain. Jason asked Greg who wanted Adrian dead?

Greg said honestly I’ve no idea. I’ve never met them or spoken to them. I just received directives from one of the wardens here who approached me. He was my go to person and he provided the rifle I used to shoot Liam.

Jason said and what did they promise you that made you do such a stupid thing? Greg said they offered me freedom if Liam and Adrian were assassinated.

You can’t blame me. I’m on death row and I jumped on any opportunity that will make me walk free. Jason said and you believed them?

Greg said you can’t blame me for trying. I miss my family and while I know walking free is a daunting task, anything that will keep me alive till God says it’s my time will be considered a victory by me.

Jason said you should tell this to your legal team. Greg said what legal team? The ones only concerned with siphoning money from me for fruitless ventures?

I think I’ll pass; I’m not asking for too much. I’m just asking that my death sentence be commuted to life in prison.

Jason said in exchange for? Greg said in exchange for everything I know about the plot to eliminate Mr. Anderson.

Anderson just folded his arms looking at Jason questioning Greg. Jason said there’s a plot to eliminate Anderson?

Greg said yes that’s the penultimate plot. If he doesn’t back down and cancel the bill, they’ll eliminate his family members and all he cares about until it’s left just him and he’ll be finally eliminated.

Jason exchanged glances with Anderson who was boiling in his spirit plotting what to do to the people who wanted to make him mourn his son.

He wasn’t even sure his son was alive because he hadn’t spoken to him. Soon Anderson spoke and said who is the warden who contacted you let’s start there.

Greg said I want a deal first. Anderson said you are not in a position to bargain or negotiate.

The quality of information you provide will determine if we play ball or not.

Greg said saving your son is not enough information? Anderson said don’t patronize me, I’m not even sure he is alive, I’ve not spoken to him so for now nothing is certain.

Greg said wow, I don’t have much of a choice do l? Jason said no I don’t think so, so start talking. Greg said the warden is one of the wardens arrested as a fall out from Liam’s shooting.

On a very serious note before I say anything I want my family secured and protected. I want their identities changed and I want them relocated.

You are all family men so you understand where I’m coming from. I may be a criminal but I love my family.

Jason said consider it done, your family will be secured today because they don’t deserve to be caught up in your crimes. So start talking Jason said.

Greg I believe you are both men of your words so I’ll believe that you’ll secure my family.

First of all, Mr. Anderson needs to act like he is not aware of any plot. Don’t give any press conferences or make cryptic comments or social media posts about your son’s shooting.

They only way you can beat them is to feign complete ignorance, don’t also stop sponsoring that bill, if you do they’ll know you are unto them. Jason exchanged glances with Anderson yet again.

Greg said there is more than one shooter so your son is not yet in the clear. Anderson said excuse me! Greg said yes so his security’s decision to not let you talk to them is the right one.

His phone is bugged and you may as well run a check on your phone and that of your family members especially your daughter in-law-to-be.

Anderson said Stacey? Greg said yes as well as his friend Ryan I believe that is his name and his girlfriend Nancy.

Anderson said how do you know all their names? Greg said that is to show you how far they’ve gone and how serious I am about this plot.

Anderson said where does this leave my wife and children outside the state? Greg said she is not safe either, you need to review her security detail as she’s a politician as well, they’ve been compromised.

You need to codedly let her know because you are being watched like a hawk. Sir, Greg said, you have a nice heart and you trust too much but you need to make some exceptions.

That bill you are sponsoring will affect a lot of politicians both past and present.

You were made before you ventured into politics so you weren’t greedy, securing money meant for the masses for your generations unborn.

So many others can’t say the same, so they feel threatened and know that they’ll be affected. There are so many people against you.

Jason said I’m not like Anderson, you’ve made valid points but how do we nip this in the bud? How do we put a stop to this madness?

Greg said the key lies with the warden who contacted me. The only way to get to him is to threaten his family.

He secured them somewhere but I managed to find out where because I needed leverage. I would reveal where they are once my family is secured. Jason said what a day today is shaping out to be.

What is the name of the warden Jason asked, I need a name because I can’t be sure if you won’t be assassinated today as well. Greg said excuse me?

Jason said the name of the warden will determine if I protect you here by assigning my most trusted wardens to you in solitary confinement.

Greg said his name is Kelvin. Jason stood up with so much shock and said Kelvin? But how? I would have sworn he was set up or in the wrong place at the wrong time.

When I saw him in the CCTV footage I thought he was just unlucky to be with the other wardens. I was working on his release.

Greg said he is a snake and a chameleon sir. He does the bidding of so many politicians here to eliminate their rivals.

Anderson said what have I gotten myself into? Jason said calm down Anderson. You are acting exactly the way they want you to act.

They know your family is your weak point and they capitalized on it. This is not an isolated incident, it’s happened before and it’ll still happen again to someone else.

We’ll get to the root of this matter, at least we have names now. We are unto them and they’ve no idea.

Anderson said I’m going in search of my son. Jason snatched his car keys from him and said you are not going anywhere.

Jason said to Greg you need to watch your back from now onwards. I’ll assign you some wardens I trust and offer you more protection if everything you have said checks out.

I’ll be very harsh to you in public so no one suspects that you’ve told me anything. I’ll put on a show and you should play along, Greg nodded in agreement.

Jason said watch your food, anything you suspect please do not consume. You can accept it but don’t taste it, I’m sure you know that already.

Greg was sent back to solitary confinement as Jason yelled at him as a cover. Jason turned to Anderson and said sit down.

Anderson sat down and he said take a deep breath, he did as he said. Jason said there is nothing happening now that’s surprising.

You know how these things work, instead of giving up, re-strategize. Tighten up your security team and that of your family. Act normal and beat them at their own game.

I’ll drive you home to be with your wife while I head to the venue of the shooting to see if I can get Adrian home safe and dry.

You need to calm down and decide on the best way forward. Now you know Liam was a distraction, you need to pay more attention to your children, especially Adrian.

Finally tell nobody what we just heard outside family members and your son’s friends because they are involved.

Anderson took a deep breath and said thank you for the clarity session I needed. You don’t need to drive me home; I’ll drive myself home so no one suspects anything.

Jason said I don’t trust you, once your family is involved you lose your objective sense of judgement.

Anderson said you have to trust me. I’m heading home, my wife must be panicking, I need to be by her side while I think of how to get my son home safely.

Jason said great I will head to the venue of the shooting; I’ve got a plan to get Adrian out of there. I’ll keep you posted, just let his security team know that I’m coming.

Anderson said I’ll do that as he left Jason’s office and headed for his car. He had a smile on his face acting as normal as possible but inside he was panicking.

He drove straight home and met his wife who was pacing back and forth. Stacey, Ryan and Nancy were already with her.

Anderson walked up to her and hugged her saying it’s okay babe everything will be fine.

She said fine how? Where is my son? Where is my Adrian? He is not answering his phone, where is my Adrian and she bursts out crying.
