This word of encouragement is inspired by my younger brother.
The year my husband and I got married everything was going on well, my brother was a fourth-year engineering student at the time.
He went for Industrial training in his second semester and then disaster struck.
He had an industrial accident that led to the loss of some parts of his fingers.
It was so traumatic that it almost led to the postponement of our marriage ceremony.
My sister lost so much weight from an unplanned hospital stay. Our family was shut down.
One day my brother almost died. I have not forgotten my sister’s call, she was crying saying she didn’t know if he had died.
There was confusion everywhere. The next 24 hours were the most nervous and most anxious of our lives as we awaited information.
Thankfully he survived and was discharged to face a new life trying to adapt to a new reality of coping with lost digits.
This story I difficult for me to write because I watched him battle depression, watched his aggression increase, and watched him exhibit a whole new level of frustration.
I remember how frustrated he was when he tried to slice onions while attempting to cook and couldn’t at the time and how he broke down in tears.
Gradually with God’s grace, he began to overcome and emerged as a better and stronger version of himself. God’s grace kept him and encouraged him not to feel pity for himself but to arise from the ashes and become a better version of himself.
We were all worried about how he was going to cope in his final year in school. We suggested he differ that year, but he insisted he’ll go back to finish what we started.
Before leaving he had regained 80% of his independence.
He didn’t need anyone’s help to cope. Today there’s nothing he can’t attempt to do.
His belief in God was nonwavering I believe that it’s his belief in God from the beginning that helped him pull through.
He went back to school and aced all his grades. He had better grades in the final year compared to previous years and he graduated with an astonishing result.
Today he is very good at anything he does, he never let that incident hold him back.
Sometimes it has been an impediment but he has always marched forward and never looked back.
Are you held down by any situation? God is saying it’s time to rise from the ashes.
It’s time to become a better version of yourself. God’s grace is sufficient for you.
Just know that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you…
