Wasted Opportunities

A missed opportunity or wasted opportunity or neglected opportunity is a chance to do or accomplish something that you did not take advantage of.

A missed opportunity is not only about a lost business opportunity. It is not only about something one can monetize, it can be a skill that can save one money in the future. ⠀

Most people live with Aunties and uncles and even parents. Yet they show no interest in skills they can learn for free from these people despite living with them for years. ⠀

Most people have lived with Fashion designers and hair stylists but yet never even learn anything from them. Saying it’s not their calling or interest neither is it for their sex. ⠀

People have the opportunity to learn graphics design, animation and even web design while living with a relative because you see them do these things for free yet later in life you pay thousands of Naira to learn things you had the opportunity to learn for free. ⠀

One area that is neglected a lot is the church. For years the church has been a training ground. Many skills can be developed in churches. Skills like public speaking can be groomed in the church. ⠀

Many Churches have technical departments and one can volunteer in such a department if you have interests in such skills. ⠀

Most people can learn Event planning by assisting during church events. ⠀

Those who teach children can develop a career in early childhood education. ⠀

Leadership skills can be groomed in churches by holding positions in the church. ⠀

A lot of women drive cars but don’t even know what to do to keep it in good condition. They know nothing about the early morning routine check despite the fact that they watch their husband’s check these things every morning. Let’s not even mention changing a tyre until the Car packs up in no man’s land for a little thing as easy as an early morning routine check. ⠀

A lot of men have about three children yet can’t change a diaper. A baby left in their care can end up with diaper rash as they can’t change a diaper to save their lives. ⠀⠀

Some can’t prepare cereal for their baby something that has been done countless times in their presence until they are left with a baby that gets hungry and they realize they don’t know what to do.

Some men buy washing machines for their wives but can’t operate one. If their wives are not around they keep piling dirty laundry. ⠀

A lot of us have lost opportunities to learn something new that would have come in handy for us in the future, we end up paying a fortune to learn these things later. ⠀

An opportunity is like a train on the move, once it’s doors have closed, it’s gone… ⠀

Learn whatever you can, from whoever you can. There will always come a time when you will be grateful you did.
